About
Zach McArthur, PGA
I was born and raised in Darlington, Wisconsin, where I developed a passion for golf at the age of six after my father introduced me to the game at Darlington Country Club, a small nine-hole farm course. My talent quickly became evident, as I earned three-time MVP and three-time Scoring Champion honors for the Darlington High School Golf Team, where I also served as team captain during my senior year.
I continued my education at the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater, majoring in marketing with an emphasis in professional sales. After graduating in 2016, I moved to Napa, California, to work in the wine industry as a marketing director for a winery equipment company. While that experience was valuable, my love for golf ultimately led me back to the game. After a brief time in the wine business, I relocated to Fresno, California, where I became an Assistant Golf Professional at San Joaquin Country Club and began my PGA Class-A education.
Within a year and a half, I achieved PGA Class-A Membership and was offered the Head Golf Professional position at Old Works Golf Course in Anaconda, Montana. During my time there, the course experienced significant growth, including a 50% year-over-year increase in rounds, record-breaking merchandise sales, and achieving a net profit for the first time in more than 20 years.
My success in Montana led to a recruitment opportunity at The Links of North Dakota, where I served as both General Manager and Head Golf Professional. Over three seasons, I led numerous initiatives and accomplishments, including expanding the junior golf program from 36 to 140 participants, nearly doubling membership, selling out all 20 RV sites to foster community engagement, and overseeing a $7 million capital improvement project. This project included clubhouse renovations, construction of a new cart barn, redesign of the first green, the purchase of 80 new golf carts, and the implementation of a new irrigation system.
My leadership at The Links of North Dakota helped earn several prestigious accolades, including recognition from the National Golf Course Owners Association as the Midwest Region Course of the Year and the National Player Development Award. The course was also named the #1 Golf Course in North Dakota for the 2025 season. Additionally, I was honored as one of Golf Digest’s Top Two Teachers in North Dakota for my commitment to high-quality instruction and coaching.
I am committed to continuous professional development and have earned certifications as a Callaway Certified Master Fitter and a Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Level 1 specialist, which has enhanced my understanding of the body-swing connection. In 2025, I also earned my “Specialized” Certification in Golf Operations through the PGA of America.
